Ryu Imanishi

Korean history scholar. Born in Gifu Prefecture. Graduated from the Department of History, College of Literature, Tokyo Imperial University in 1903 (Meiji 36). Since then, he has consistently been involved in the study of Korean history, and achieved many accomplishments. In 1926 (Taisho 15), he became a professor at Kyoto Imperial University and Keijo Imperial University, where he engaged in research activities, and also served as a member of the Historical Sites Research Committee of the Government-General of Korea and a member of the "History of Korea" editorial committee. Edited works after his death include "Research on the Ancient History of Korea," "Research on the History of Baekje," "Research on the History of Silla," and "Bookmark of Korean History." He also achieved success in collecting and publishing various rare books.

朝鮮史学者。岐阜県出身。1903年（明治36）東京帝国大学文科大学史学科を卒業。以後一貫して朝鮮史の研究に携わり、多くの業績を残した。26年（大正15）京都帝国大学教授兼京城帝国大学教授として研究活動を行うとともに朝鮮総督府の古蹟(こせき)調査委員、『朝鮮史』編修会委員も務めた。その遺稿を編集したものに『朝鮮古史の研究』『百済史研究』『新羅史研究』『朝鮮史の栞(しおり)』などがある。また各種善本の収集と刊行の面でも成果をあげた。
