...A branch of the Niger-Kordofan language family, it is a large language group distributed over a wide area from the western tip of West Africa through Nigeria and other places to the southern tip of the African continent. It is subdivided into six groups: West Atlantic (Fula, Wolof, etc.), Mande (Mandekan, Bai, etc.), Voltaic (also called Gur, Mossi, Senufo, etc.), Kwa (Yoruba, Igbo, etc.), Adamawa-Eastern (Sango, Zande, etc.), and Benue-Congo (Tib, Bantu, etc.).
