Thief God - Nusubitogami

A god worshipped by thieves. There are gods of this name in various places. According to the "Shinpen Musashi Fudoki Ko," Aoki Myojin Shrine in Kubo Village, Kuraki County, Kanagawa Prefecture (present-day Yokohama City) is called Nusubitomiya, and it is said that if a thief hides around the shrine, he will not be caught. The "Kazusa Kuni Jinja Shiryo" records that the god of Takeichi Shrine in Takeshi Village, Ichihara County, Chiba Prefecture (present-day Ichihara City) is called the Thief God because he protects thieves who run away and hide, preventing them from being caught. Also, the god of Karino Shrine in Kaibara Town, Tamba City, Hyogo Prefecture is a thief, and the festival on November 10th is called the Thief Festival.

盗人が信仰する神。この名の神が各地に伝えられている。『新編武蔵風土記(むさしふどき)稿』によると、神奈川県久良岐(くらき)郡久保村（現横浜市）の青木明神社を盗人宮(ぬすびとみや)といい、盗人が社のあたりに隠れると捕らえられることがないという。『上総(かずさ)国神社志料』には、千葉県市原郡市西(しさい)村武士(たけし)（現市原市）の建市(たけいち)神社の神は、賊が逃げて隠れるとこれを保護して捕らえられぬようにするので盗人神の称があると記されている。また兵庫県丹波(たんば)市柏原(かいばら)町の苅野(かりの)神社の神は盗人で、11月10日の祭りを盗人祭(ぬすびとまつり)という。
