Nukisaki Shrine

Japanese: 貫前神社 - ぬきさきじんじゃ

Located in Ichinomiya, Tomioka City, Gunma Prefecture. Its official name is Ichinomiya Nukisaki Shrine. Formerly a nationally-beloved medium-sized shrine, it enshrines Futsunushi and other deities. It is said to have been founded when the Mononobe clan migrated eastward. It is listed as a famous shrine in the Engishiki and is the Ichinomiya of Kozuke Province. It is worshiped as the god of agriculture and sericulture. Its annual festival is held on March 15th. Other festivals include the Mido-kaisai (opening of the shrine) (March 14th, December 12th), Tsutsugayu Festival (January 15th), and Shikaura Shinji (December 8th). It is especially famous for its Shikinen Sengu (periodical rebuilding of the shrine) held every 13 years in the year of the monkey. Its important cultural properties include the main hall, worship hall, and the Hakudo Tsukimiya Kagami.

群馬県富岡市一之宮に鎮座。正称は〈一之宮貫前神社〉。旧国幣中社。経津主(ふつぬし)神などをまつる。物部(もののべ)氏の東方移住に伴い創建したと伝える。延喜式内の名神大社とされ，上野(こうずけ)国の一宮。農業・養蚕の神として信仰される。例祭は３月15日。ほかに御戸開祭（３月14日，12月12日），筒粥祭（１月15日），鹿占(しかうら)神事（12月８日）など。ことに13年目ごとの申(さる)年の式年遷宮は有名。本殿・拝殿，白銅月宮鑑などの重要文化財がある。
