Newton's Rings - Newton's Ring, Newton's Ring
When printing using an enlarger, the film is sandwiched between a negative carrier, and some negative carriers use glass to press both sides of the film together. When using glass negative carriers, if the film is moist, interference fringes can appear on the printed photographic paper. This is called Newton's rings, and to prevent this, the film must be properly dried before being sandwiched between the negative carrier. Similar interference fringes can also appear when scanning with a flatbed scanner.
