Nihonmatsu family

Japanese: 二本松氏 - にほんまつうじ
Nihonmatsu family
A branch of the Hatakeyama clan that later became the Kanrei family of the Muromachi Shogunate. Local feudal lords of Mutsu Province. Kanrei family of Oshu. In 1345 (Kokoku 6, Sadawa 1) during the turmoil of the Northern and Southern Courts period, Hatakeyama Kuniuji and Kira Sadaie were appointed Kanrei of Oshu by the Shogunate, and the following year they took up their posts in Taga Kokufu (present-day Tagajo City, Miyagi Prefecture). During the Kan'o Disturbance, Kuniuji and his father Takakuni fought against Sadaie and were forced to commit suicide, but Kuniuji's son Kuniakira escaped and temporarily regained his Kanrei position. They later lost their territories in remote areas such as Kami District and Kurokawa District, and their descendants based themselves in Nihonmatsu, Adachi District (present-day Nihonmatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture) and called themselves the Nihonmatsu clan.
