1702‐54 (15th year of Genroku to 4th year of Horeki) A haiku poet of the mid-Edo period. His first pen names were Jishaku and Jiseki, and other pen names included Jizaian, Suikodo, Chinitei, Konantei, and Hoshosai. He shaved his head and took the name Raizohoshi. He worked as a billbroker in Edo Kuramae, and learned haiku from Giku. Not satisfied with the haiku of the Edoza theaters that were popular in Edo at the time, he believed that haiku should also use classical literary texts, and in his Heikai Kusen (1735, Kyoho 20), he advocated classical learning in haiku. He was influenced by the classical literary texts of Ogyū Sorai, and is thought to have learned from his teacher Giku's ideas as well as from Goshikiboku (1731). 1702‐54(元禄15‐宝暦4) 江戸中期の俳人。
