An organization for the consultation and cooperation of the major Protestant denominations and organizations in Japan. It is called the National Christian Council of Japan. Its abbreviation is NCC. It communicates with NCCs around the world and cooperates with the Christian Council of Asia (CCA) and the World Council of Churches (WCC). Its predecessor was the Japan Christian Federation, which was founded in 1923, but was dissolved during the war and the current council was formed in 1948 after the war. However, so-called evangelical denominations are not members. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
