A Yayoi period burial site located in Atochi, Gotsu City, Shimane Prefecture. Located on a sand dune along the Japan Sea coast, various stone-enclosed tombs were discovered at two locations, at the foot and top of the hill, in a survey conducted by the Gotsu City Board of Education in 1971-72. On the north side of the foot of the dune, there is a row of stones approximately 15m long that was used to hold back sand and to define the burial area, and although only a portion of it has been surveyed, there are five square stone-paved tombs and one open-top box coffin lined up in an orderly fashion. One of the central stone-paved tombs is small, but has a low square mound measuring 4m x 5m and approximately 90cm high, and contains three people, each of whom was buried with one piece of pottery as grave goods.
