A Vaishnavite scripture compiled in the 10th century by Nāthamuni, a collection of works by 14 Vaishnavite religious poets active in South India from the 7th to the 9th centuries. The name means "Collection of Four Thousand Odes." Based on traditional Tamil literary techniques, it contains many poems that fervently praise faith in Vishnu. It was born out of the bhakti (devotional faith) movement that spread in South India several centuries after Christ, and corresponds to the Tirumurai scripture of Shaivism, another major sect of Hinduism, and in particular the Devaram, a collection of poems that forms the core of the Thirumurai.

南インドで7世紀から9世紀にかけて活躍したビシュヌ教の宗教詩人14名の作品を集めて，10世紀にナータムニNāthamuniが編纂したビシュヌ派の聖典。《四千頌歌集》を意味する。タミルの伝統的な文学技法に基づいて，ビシュヌ神への信仰を熱烈にうたい上げた詩を多く含む。紀元後数世紀以降南インドに広まった帰依信仰運動(バクティ)の中から生まれたもので，ヒンドゥー教のもう一つの大きな一派であるシバ派の聖典《ティルムライ》，なかでもその中核をなす詩編《デーバーラム》に対応する。
