Around 1247 - 1316 Theologian and political theorist. Born in Rome, he joined the Augustinian Order and attended lectures by Thomas Aquinas at the University of Paris. Although some of his theories were influenced by Thomas, he did not belong to the Thomistic school. After clashing with the university authorities and interrupting his studies for several years, he became a professor at the Faculty of Theology at the University of Paris, where he taught until he became superior general in 1292. He supported Thomas's position on the distinction between "being" and "essence" in finite things, and elevated this distinction to an existential distinction that exists "between things." 1247ころ‐1316 神学者,政治理論家。
