A town in Hiki County in central Saitama Prefecture. It consists of the gently sloping Hiki Hills and the plains of the Namegawa River that runs through the center, with numerous reservoirs dotted within the hills. In the past, rice and sericulture were the main industries of the town, but in 1974 the National Musashino Hills Forest Park was opened in the northeastern part of the town, and in 1976 the Higashimatsuyama Industrial Park was developed between the town and Higashimatsuyama City, and factories and other businesses have been moving into the plateau to the south. 埼玉県中央部,比企(ひき)郡の町。なだらかな比企丘陵と,中央を貫流する滑川の河谷平野からなり,丘陵内には多数の溜池が点在。かつては米・養蚕を主力としたが,1974年町北東部に国営武蔵丘陵森林公園が開園,1976年には東松山市との間に東松山工業団地が造成され,南部の台地上に工場などの進出が盛ん。29.68km2。1万7323人(2010)。
