Joruri. Domestic drama. Three volumes. Written by Chikamatsu Monzaemon. First performed at the Takemotoza Theater in Osaka in 1707. It is a dramatization of the double suicide between Tokubei, the adopted son of an Osaka indigo dyer, and Obou, a prostitute from Shigeizutsu, a tea house run by his older brother. It was made into a Kabuki play and also performed as a Doyuki dance. 浄瑠璃。世話物。三巻。近松門左衛門作。宝永四年(一七〇七)大坂竹本座初演。大坂の紺屋の養子徳兵衛と実兄の経営する色茶屋重井筒の遊女お房との心中事件を脚色。歌舞伎化され、道行舞踊としても行なわれた。
