Kametoku

...There are settlements on the lower terraces or along the cliffs. The central settlement of Kamezu, where the magistrate's office was located during the Satsuma Domain era, Kametoku to the north, where ships from Kagoshima depart, and Boma, further north, which once had a unique landscape of rows of thatched-roof houses, are all connected by a road that circles the island. Agriculture takes advantage of the subtropical climate, and sugar cane accounts for 50% of agricultural production (1982).
