Lily Laskine

A French female harpist born in Paris. After graduating from the Paris Conservatoire, she became an exclusive harpist for the Paris Opera Orchestra and the Orchestre de la Mauroux. At the same time, she was also active in chamber music and solo performance, and played a major role in raising the status of the harp. She was known as the greatest harpist of the 20th century, and many composers dedicated works to her. She was a professor at the Paris Conservatoire from 1948 to 1958. In 1958, she received the Legion of Honor. Her playing was characterized by a gorgeous tone and elegant, delicate expression, which created a typical example of French harp playing.

フランスの女流ハープ奏者。パリ生まれ。パリ音楽院を卒業してパリ・オペラ座管弦楽団、ラムルー管弦楽団などの専属奏者となる。同時に室内楽や独奏でも積極的に活動、ハープの地位を高めるのに大きな役割を果たし、20世紀最高のハープ奏者の名をほしいままにして、多くの作曲家から作品を献呈された。1948~58年パリ音楽院教授。58年にはレジオン・ドヌール十字勲章を受けた。その演奏は、華やかな音色と気品のある繊細な表情に特色があり、それによってフランスのハープ演奏の一典型を生み出した。
