[Born] Around 1155 [Died] 1225 The 34th caliph of the Abbasid dynasty (reigned 1180-1225). His mother was a Turkish slave, but he was the only one of the later caliphs to hold political power. While confronting external enemies such as the Seljuk Turks and the Mongols, he maintained strict domestic policy and aimed to reunify the Islamic world.
