There are two types of Daihannyakyo Sutra: the one that Nagaya no Okimi copied in 712 (Wadō 5) in mourning the death of Emperor Mommu (683-707), and the one that he had copied in 728 (Jinki 5) as a prayer for the repose of his parents' souls. The former is also called the Wadōkyō and the latter the Jinkikyō. Neither has a boundary line, and the Jinkikyō is valuable in that it uses hemp paper and suggests a copying organization (copying place). The Wadōkyō is known to exist in over 220 volumes (Jomyō-ji Temple, Shiga Prefecture, and elsewhere), while the Jinkikyō is known to exist in three volumes (Nezu Museum, and elsewhere).
