Inada stone

Japanese:
Inada stone

A biotite granite stone found in the Inada region of Kasama City, Ibaraki Prefecture. It is also called Inada granite or white granite. It is a plutonic rock whose main components are quartz, potassium feldspar, plagioclase, and biotite, and it may also contain amphibole. The potassium feldspar and plagioclase are white, giving it a white appearance, and it is said to be the closest to pure white among domestic granite. Depending on the size of the mineral particles, there are coarse, medium, fine, and bran-grained varieties, and there is also a type called "black" that contains a lot of colored minerals. It is widely used throughout eastern Japan, mainly in the Kanto region, as a relatively high-quality stone for civil engineering and construction. It is also used for paving stones and gravestones, and crushed stone is used as a raw material for terrazzo (artificial stone).
