A samurai family in the early modern period. The chief retainer of the Tokushima domain and lord of Sumoto Castle in Awaji. The first head of the family, Inada Tanemoto, accompanied Hachisuka Iemasa to Awa in 1585 (Tensho 13) and entered Waki Castle. In 1631 (Kan'ei 8), the second head of the family, Shigetane, became lord of Sumoto Castle and was awarded a stipend of over 14,000 koku. Starting with the third head, Tanetsugu, the family took on the name "Kurobei" for each generation. The 16th head, Tanenobu, worked hard to defend the Awaji coast and produced many loyalists from the private school, Masyukan, while his son, Kunitane, was active as a supporter of the anti-shogunate movement. After the Kogo Incident in 1870 (Meiji 3), they moved to Hokkaido. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
