A powerful family of merchants in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The Trip family, brothers Elias and Jacob, were active in Dordrecht as iron, copper, and arms dealers from around the end of the 16th century, and in the 17th century, the family amassed great wealth as international arms dealers in Amsterdam. They were related by marriage to another arms dealer, Louis de Geer, and participated in the development of mines in Sweden. The mansion built by the brothers in the center of Amsterdam is now used as the Royal Netherlands Academy.
