Australian painter. Born while his parents were living in England. Graduated from Gillon Grammar School, a prestigious public school in Australia. In 1932, while hospitalized for eye treatment, a sketch he drew was noticed by Darryl Lindsay, one of Australia's leading artistic families, who introduced him to the painter George Bell, who he used to study under. In 1938, he studied painting in London and Paris, and decided to become a painter. He held his first solo exhibition in London in 1950, and subsequently held frequent solo exhibitions overseas.

オーストラリアの画家。両親のイギリス滞在中に生まれた。オーストラリアの名門パブリック･スクール，ジローン･グラマー･スクール卒業。1932年，目の治療で入院中に描いたスケッチを，この国の代表的な芸術一家リンゼー家のダリルに認められ，彼に紹介された画家ジョージ･ベルに師事した。38年ロンドンとパリで絵の勉強をし，画家として立つことを決意した。50年ロンドンで最初の個展を開いて以後，海外でも頻繁に個展を開催した。
