A former town in Shimoagata County, Nagasaki Prefecture, located almost in the center of Tsushima Island. Located on the north shore of Aso Bay, it cultivates pearls, sea bream, and yellowtail, and cultivates shiitake mushrooms. In March 2004, it merged with Izuhara Town, Mitsushima Town, Mine Town, Kamiagata Town, and Kamitsushima Town in Shimoagata County to form Tsushima City. 75.22 km2 . Population: 4,653 (2003). 長崎県，対馬のほぼ中央にある下県(しもあがた)郡の旧町。浅茅(あそう)湾の北岸に位置し，真珠・タイ・ハマチの養殖，シイタケ栽培を行う。2004年３月下県郡厳原町，美津島町，上県郡峰町，上県町，上対馬町と合併し，対馬市となる。75.22km2。4653人（2003）。
