The plains are located in the middle and lower reaches of the Sendai River in eastern Tottori Prefecture. In a broader sense, they also include the Kuninaka Plain in the middle reaches. The original form of the plains was a drowned valley from the interglacial and postglacial periods, and isolated hills such as Oroyama, Omokageyama, and the group of small hills in the west were once islands, while Koyama Pond is a remnant of the sea left behind by the siltation of sand dunes and the Sendai River. The remains of a jori structure remain widely on the higher ground of the plains. Takaba no Sho, a manor owned by Todaiji Temple, was once located between Karo and Nosaka on the west bank of the Sendai River, and the Inaba provincial capital was located on the Fukuro River micro-fan in the east. The rice fields on the west bank are irrigated by the Oide Canal, which was excavated by Kamei Korenori, lord of Shikano Castle, during the Tensho period (1573-1592), and the east bank is irrigated by the Yamashiro River Canal. At the center of the plain is the prefectural capital, Tottori City. [Minoru Iwanaga] Photographed from the east. In the foreground is Tottori Prefectural Fuse Comprehensive Athletic Park.
