A peasant uprising that occurred in the mid-Edo period. It started in February 1739 in Hatto District, Inaba Province, within the territory of the Tottori Domain, and spread to all of Inaba Province except Iwai District, and Hoki Province except Hino District. The rebels destroyed village headmen and lodged petitions in various places, refused to be persuaded by the magistrates, and gathered in the tens of thousands to demand the return of rice borrowed from the domain, reduction or exemption of small-scale income tax, and replacement of local officials. The domain responded by accepting these demands, and the uprising came to an end, with the ringleaders being arrested. However, an official response was issued by the domain in March, and there was a movement to protest, and the uprising was put down in April.
