One of the ancient Turkic languages. Also known as Old Oghuz. A language known from the Orkhon and Yenisei inscriptions (8th century), which are the oldest Turkic sources. Written in Turkic script. Compared to modern Turkic languages, it has some ancient features such as the preservation of / * b-/ and / * ç/, but it cannot necessarily be said to be older than other languages in all respects.
