Erté (English spelling)

Soviet painter and costume designer.
Born in Russia.
His real name is Romain de Tiltoc.
His father was a naval commander. He went to Paris in 1908 and was recognized by Paul Poiret, where he studied fashion design and design drawing. He became a representative artist of the Art Deco style, designing stage sets, ballet and theater stage drawings, and costumes for big stars such as Mistinguett and Mata Hari. He established the image of the Ethereal woman, but after World War II he temporarily stopped working, but in 1968, at the age of 76, he released his first Lito and Cirque, and resumed his activities.

本名ロマン・ド・ティルトク。
海軍司令長官を父に持つ。1908年パリにでて、ポール・ポワレに認められ、ファッション・デザインやデザイン画を学ぶ。舞台装置、バレエや演劇の舞台画、ミスタンゲット、マタハリなど大スターの舞台衣装のデザインでアール・デコ様式の代表的作家となる。エテル的女性像を確立するが、第二次大戦後一時中断、’68年76才で最初のリト、シルクを発表し再び活動。
