A sect of Tibetan Buddhism. In 1032, the Indian monk Atisha entered Tibet and reformed Lamaism, and was influenced by his disciple Domtung, who founded the sect. The head temple is Lading Monastery in northern Tibet. After Atisha's death, his disciples established several sects, but the main one, the Sakya sect, was in conflict with each other.
