〘Noun〙 A metal percussion instrument used in Chinese Ming and Qing music ensembles. It is shaped like a gong , hung on a string, and struck in the center with a mallet. The sound is clear and resonant. ※Fuzoku Gaho, Issue 104 (1895) Yugeimon "Gong〈abbreviation〉It is made like a copper basin and is commonly called a gong."
