This is the diary of Yamashina Nobutokuni (1452-1503), a nobleman from the late Muromachi period. Although the middle part is missing, the diary remains from 1474 (Bunmei 6) to 1502 (Bunkai 2). It provides a detailed account of the state of affairs of the Imperial Court and noble society in its decline, as well as the power struggles within the Muromachi shogunate and peasant uprisings. As the Yamashina family hereditarily held the position of Kuranokami, who was in charge of offerings to the Imperial Court, this diary is important for understanding the imperial economy, clothing, and food of the time. Eighteen handwritten originals are held by the Imperial Household Agency Archives and Mausolea Department, and one by Kyoto University.
