This is a trademark used on publications by the Bibliographical Institute, a German publisher specializing in dictionaries and encyclopedias. It began in 1880 when K. Duden (1829-1911) edited the German Orthographical Dictionary, which was published by the same company in 1915 as the Duden Orthographical Dictionary. This dictionary is now called the Great Duden and is the authoritative standard for the standardization of German spelling. The company was founded in 1826 and is also the publisher of the Meyer Encyclopedia.
