A representative manga magazine from the latter half of the Meiji period to the early Taisho period. Issues confirmed to have been published from the April 1905 issue to the November 1915 issue. Published by Yurakusha. Presided over by Kitazawa Rakuten, its staff included artists who would later form families, such as Kawabata Ryuko, Sakamoto Hanjiro, Yamamoto Kanae, and Ishii Kakuzo. It was a 16-page magazine in 464 format, and its color printing (four-color lithograph printing) was a fresh idea. It gained popularity due to its low price of 10 sen and its cartoons based on the Russo-Japanese War, and at one time it was in circulation as many as 100,000 copies, making satirical manga familiar to the masses.

明治後半期～大正初期の代表的漫画雑誌。1905年4月号から15年11月号までの刊行が確認されている。有楽社発行。北沢楽天が主宰し，スタッフに川端竜子，坂本繁二郎，山本鼎，石井鶴三ら，のちに一家をなす画家たちを擁していた。四六四倍判16ページ建てで，色刷り(石版4色刷り)が新鮮だった。10銭という安い値段と日露戦争を題材とする漫画により人気を獲得，一時は10万部も発行し，風刺漫画を大衆に親しいものとした。
