It has developed rapidly as the heart of the state, and is a transportation hub, with railroads, highways, and Stapleton International Airport, which is the seventh largest air route in the world. In addition to its convenient transportation and geographical location, the city's abundant natural resources, especially energy resources, have long promoted the development of commerce and industry. Today, the core of the city is the aerospace industry, which began in the 1950s, followed by food processing, electrical machinery, leather, medical equipment, rubber, glass, and petroleum.
