Electromagnetic unit system

A system of units that uses magnetic pole strength, defined by Coulomb's law, as a base unit in addition to length, mass, and time. It is abbreviated as emu, which is the initial letter of electro-magnetic unit. In the CGS electromagnetic system, in addition to centimeters, grams, and seconds, the magnetic permeability of a vacuum is a dimensionless quantity with a value of 1, and the strength of each of two equal magnetic poles that are 1 cm apart in a vacuum and exert a force of 1 dyne on each other is defined as the magnetic pole strength of 1 CGS electromagnetic unit.
