1770‐1848 (Meiwa 7‐Kaei 1) A Confucian scholar of the Kishu Domain in the late Edo period. His pen name was Hakushin. He was called Nanyo, and his childhood name was Hyotaro, and when he grew up he was called Tsunekichi, and later Moichiro. He was the eldest son of Sukezaemon Michinori, a farmer from Kataura, Ama County. He excelled in academics from an early age, and at the age of 16 he became a lecturer at the school and was given a stipend. He later served as a lecturer and accountant, and became the general editor of the Kii Zoku Fudoki, completing 192 volumes in 33 years. He wrote works such as Meian Zusetsu Wakewa at the command of the domain lord, and is known for his masterpiece, Mokotoba Hoden.
