Electrowinning - Denkaisaishu

Japanese:
Electrowinning - Denkaisaishu
A smelting process in which heavy metals are extracted from heavy metal ores in the form of a salt solution, then electrolyzed using an insoluble anode to obtain the metal at the cathode. Electrowinning of zinc Zn is the most widely used method. First, zinc ore ZnS is roasted to produce an oxide, which is then dissolved in sulfuric acid to produce a zinc sulfate ZnSO4 solution, which is then electrolyzed using a lead plate as the anode and an aluminum plate as the cathode. It is also used to obtain cadmium Cd, manganese Mn, chromium Cr, nickel Ni, cobalt Co, etc. [Fueki Kazuo]
