重金属鉱石から重金属を塩水溶液の形で抽出し，不溶性陽極を用いて電気分解して，陰極に金属を得る製錬法。亜鉛Znの電解採取は最も広く行われている。まずセン亜鉛鉱ZnSを焙焼して酸化物としたのち，硫酸に溶解して硫酸亜鉛ZnSO₄の溶液をつくり，鉛板を陽極，アルミニウム板を陰極として電気分解を行う。そのほかカドミウムCd，マンガンMn，クロムCr，ニッケルNi，コバルトCo等を得るのにも用いられる。【笛木和雄】
