Field effect transistor

Also called FET. A semiconductor device that controls the current flowing between the two poles of the source (which stores holes) and the drain (which allows holes to flow out) by the voltage (reverse bias) of the gate placed at a right angle to the source and drain. Many have a source and drain at either end of an n-type germanium transistor, with a pair of p-type gates joined in between. There are also MOS transistors with aluminum gates evaporated onto silicon, and TFTs that use a thin film of cadmium sulfide. In 1928, American JE Linienfeld applied for a patent for it, and in 1952 W. Shockley published the theory of the junction-gate field-effect transistor, a practical example of which is the theory of the junction-gate field-effect transistor. It has higher impedance and better noise characteristics than ordinary transistors, and is used as a high-voltage amplifier in various instruments and audio products. FETとも。ソース（正孔をたくわえる），ドレーン（正孔を流出する）の２極間に流れる電流を，それと直角方向に設けたゲートの電圧（逆バイアスする）によって制御する半導体素子。n形ゲルマニウムの両端にソース，ドレーンを設け，中間に１対のp形ゲートを接合したものが多く，シリコンにアルミニウムのゲートを蒸着したMOSトランジスター，硫化カドミウムの薄膜を用いたTFTなどもある。1928年米国のJ.E.リニエンフェルドが特許提出し，実用のものとしては1952年にW.ショックレーによる接合ゲート電界効果トランジスターの理論が発表された。一般のトランジスターより高インピーダンス，雑音特性にすぐれ，高圧増幅素子として各種計器，音響製品に使われる。特にMOS型は消費電力が少なく，大規模集積回路に適している。→トランジスター
