Telukbetung - Telukbetung (English spelling)

A port city in the Lampung region of southern Sumatra in western Indonesia. It has a population of about 130,000. It is located at the head of Lampung Bay, a large inlet into the Sunda Strait. There is a regular railway ferry service between the city and Merak Port on the northwest coast of Java, 120 kilometers away. It has close ties with Java and serves as a gateway to Sumatra from the south. The surrounding area is the largest settlement of Javanese people, and coffee and pepper cultivation is thriving. In 1983, it merged with Tanjung Karang, its northern neighbor, and was renamed Bandar Lampung.

インドネシア西部、スマトラ島南部のランポン地方にある港湾都市。人口約13万。スンダ海峡に大きく湾入するランポン湾湾頭に位置する。120キロメートル隔てたジャワ島北西岸のメラク港との間に鉄道連絡船の定期航路がある。ジャワ島と密接な関係にあり、南からのスマトラ島の門戸をなす。周辺はジャワ人の最大の移住地で、コーヒー、コショウの栽培が盛んである。1983年に、北隣のタンジュンカランと合併してバンダールランプンに改名した。
