1739‐1817 French economist and politician. He initially studied medicine, but later switched to economics, and as a disciple of Quesnay, he worked to develop and popularize Physiocratic economics. He edited the school's journals, 'Revisiting Agriculture, Commerce, and Finance' and 'Journal of the Citizen', and published 2 volumes of 'Physiocracy' (1767, 1768), which edited and explained Quesnay's works. He also published many books and papers himself. As an economist, he was not necessarily an original theorist, but he made a great contribution by clarifying the economic significance of the freedom of grain trading.
