A fishing net consisting of a pouch net and wing net with floats and sinkers, and a long drag net following the wing net. It is a drag net similar to a beach seine or a boat seine. It is also called a bottom drag net. The nets are generally small and can be manufactured with little capital, so they have spread throughout the country. The fishing method is to sink the net to the bottom of the sea and drag it around, while the fishing boat is stopped in a fixed position and the net is pulled toward the boat one by one by hand, and finally the net is hauled up on board for the catch. Fishing is carried out in sandy and muddy fishing grounds about one mile along the coast. The catch is mainly bottom fish such as flounder, turbot, sea bream, shrimp, and crab, as well as small fish. The fishing is mainly done by two-man fishing boats steered by oar power. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
