Kazimierz Dejmek

Polish director. Known for his orthodox classical theatre direction. At a young age, he was director of the New Theatre in Lodz (1949-61), and later moved to the National Theatre in Warsaw, but was dismissed in 1968 and neglected for four years until he returned to the Grand Theatre in Lodz in 1972. The reason for this was that at the end of February 1968, the National Theatre's production of Mickiewicz's classical verse drama "The Feast of the Fathers" was banned for being "anti-Soviet," which led to the "March Incident." ポーランドの演出家。古典劇の正統をくむ演出で知られる。若くしてウッチの〈新劇場〉支配人(1949‐61)，のちワルシャワの〈国民劇場〉に移るが1968年に解任され，72年ウッチ〈大劇場〉に復帰するまでの4年間は冷遇された。理由は1968年2月末〈国民劇場〉のミツキエビチ作の古典詩劇《父祖の祭》の演出が〈反ソ的〉として上演禁止となったことから，〈三月事件〉へ発展したためであった。【工藤幸雄】
