1256‐1327 Syrian geographer. Born in Damascus. Known as the author of "Wonders of the Earth and the Sea," which combines cosmology and geography similar to Qazwini's "Wonders of Creation." This work includes everything from the entire universe to the natural history and geography of the Earth, and many similar works have been written since the 12th century. Dimashqi's writings are somewhat uncritical in their citations, but they contain information that cannot be found anywhere else.
