A translation of the Greek word horos (plural horoi). In Homeric poetry, the older form of the word ouros is used to mean a boundary marker for public or private property, but in historical times it was a stone pillar erected at the border of mortgaged land or near a house, on which the name of the debtor or creditor and the amount of the debt were usually inscribed. In Athens, before Solon, there were mortgage stones indicating that land had come under the control of a creditor through a loan, but Solon is said to have removed these mortgage stones when he wrote off the debt. ギリシア語のホロスhoros(複数形ホロイhoroi)の訳。
