Reichsreform

Japanese: 帝国改革 - ていこくかいかく（英語表記）Reichsreform

This refers to reforms of the Holy Roman Empire attempted between the end of the 15th century and the beginning of the 16th century. At the end of the 15th century, the Holy Roman Empire was essentially a state that ruled almost exclusively over Germany, and the emperor was losing the authority he once held in the face of increasingly independent territorial powers, leading to a state of separation between the emperor and the empire. In this situation, many proposals for reforming the empire were put forward that advocated the restoration of the authority that the empire once held under Charlemagne and the Salier dynasty, but these were merely proposals that clearly reflected the positions of the various classes to which the authors belonged.

15世紀末から16世紀初めにかけて試みられた神聖ローマ帝国の体制をめぐる改革をいう。　神聖ローマ帝国は15世紀末に実質的にはほぼドイツだけを支配する国家にほかならず，自立性を強めてゆく領邦権力の前で皇帝はかつてもっていた権限を失い，皇帝と帝国とが分離しつつある状態であった。このような状況のなかで帝国がかつてカール大帝やザリエル朝のもとでもっていた権威の回復を標榜する帝国改革案が数多く出されていくが，それらは執筆者が属する諸身分の立場をあらわに示した改革案にすぎなかった。
