Diomedes - Diomedes (English spelling)

(1) A hero in Greek mythology. His father was Tydeus, famous as one of the seven generals who attacked Thebes, and he also participated in the second Theban expedition by the Epigoni. During the Trojan War, he played an active role as a general with both wisdom and bravery, and was considered the bravest warrior second only to Achilles. When he was prevented from killing the Trojan hero Aeneas by the goddess Aphrodite, he showed no mercy to even a god, wounding him, and even piercing the stomach of the god of war, Ares, with a spear, fled screaming. On the other hand, when he was about to fight the Trojan general Glaucus, he found out that their grandfathers had been close friends, and the two swore to be allies and exchanged armor as a memento before parting ways. He often acts with Odysseus. He defeated the Trojans' Rhesos and Doron, went to Lemnos to pick up Philoctetes, and stole the Palladion statue from Troy. (2) A Thracian king in Greek mythology. His father was Ares, who ruled the warlike barbarian tribe of Bysthnes. He had four vicious horses that he fed on human flesh, but was killed by Hercules, who ordered him to bring the horses to him. It is also said that Hercules fed the horses to humans, which was Hercules' eighth labor.
