A marine animal belonging to the phylum Porifera, class Hexactinellida, family Rossella. The largest species among hexactinellida can reach up to 1 meter in length. The body is bell- or vase-shaped, stands upright with the mouth facing up, and is attached to rocks at the base. The outer and inner surfaces of the body wall are smooth. The hexactinellidae of tiny bone fragments scattered within the body have broom-like branching ends. They are known to live in large numbers on the deep sea floor of Sagami Bay, 500 to 900 meters deep.
