A colorless crystal of 1,3-dihydroxybenzene. Also known as resorcinol. Melting point 111°C, boiling point 281°C. Easily soluble in water and ethanol. A type of dihydric phenol. Used as a preservative, disinfectant, medicine, and dye raw material. Made by dissolving 1,3-benzenedisulfonic acid with sodium hydroxide.
