Japanese: 突ん棒漁業 - つきんぼうぎょぎょう

This is a type of fishing that involves casting a harpoon from a boat to catch large surface fish such as tuna and marlin. In Japan, it has been practiced since the Edo period, targeting marlin, and was known as marlin harpoon fishing. Even today, the main catches are swordfish and marlin, but other marlin species, tuna, dolphins, and sharks are also caught. Since the fishermen target strong swimmers, fishing boats that can travel fast and have good maneuverability are required. The fishing boats have a unique shape, with a harpoon stand at the bow and a high fish viewing platform in the center. However, there are no specialized boats in Japan.

船上からもりを投げてマグロ，カジキなどの表層性大型魚類を漁獲する漁業。日本では江戸時代からカジキを対象として行われ，カジキ突ん棒漁として知られた。現在でもおもな漁獲物はメカジキとマカジキで，そのほか，他のカジキ類，マグロ，イルカ，サメなどもとれる。遊泳力の強い魚をねらうので高速が出，操縦性能のよい漁船が必要である。漁船には船首にもり手の立つ突ん棒台と中央に高い魚見台を備え，独特の形をしている。ただし，日本には専業船はない。
