There are two types of cells: somatic cells and germ cells. Germ cells ensure the continuation of an organism's genetic information and allow for the regeneration of younger generations. The cells that become germ cells are called primordial germ cells, and they have morphological characteristics that distinguish them from other tissue cells from an early stage of development.
