Communications and Broadcasting Satellite Organization

Japanese: 通信放送衛星機構 - つうしんほうそうえいせいきこう
Communications and Broadcasting Satellite Organization
It was established in August 1979 under the Telecommunications and Broadcasting Satellite Organization Act as a licensed corporation responsible for the unified management and operation of Japan's communications and broadcasting satellites. In October 1992, following an amendment to the underlying law, it was renamed the Telecommunications Advancement Organization of Japan. The original regulations stipulated that the organization's duties were (1) to commission and launch communications and broadcasting satellites, (2) to control the position and attitude of satellites, and (3) to allow those who open space stations to use the radio equipment installed on the satellites. However, amendments made after 1992 added various duties to comprehensively carry out and support advanced communications and broadcasting research and development.
