A mountain in the Bhutan Himalayas on the border between Bhutan and Tibet. It is 7,315m above sea level. Its name means "Goddess Mountain" in Tibetan and is one of the sacred mountains of the Tibetan people. It is clearly visible from the Chumbi Valley, which was a passage from India to Tibet. In 1937, British expedition FS Chapman entered Bhutan from the Tibetan side and reached the summit by going around the southern ridge to the eastern face. In 1970, a joint Indian-Bhutanese team (Captain N. Kumar) reached the summit from the Bhutanese side. Bhutan's mountains are not open to the general public.
